General Comments, Funny Stories & Favorite Quotes

"I have never coached young women in the sport of volleyball, so I recognize I am not qualified to truly judge Ms. Mullins’ coaching abilities. I can say, however, she never gave me confidence she knew what she was doing. Her decisions were illogical. Her lineups were never consistent. And a player’s ability to perform well never seemed to factor into their amount of playing time. It honestly felt like Ms. Mullins went out of her way to lose. In addition, Ms. Mullins most definitely never understood the concept of team. As stated in other posts here, she seemed to take great pleasure in publicly berating and humiliating her players. As a parent, I cannot begin to express how ashamed I am of myself for allowing Ms. Mullins to treat my daughter the way she did without intervening. And believe me, this is not hearsay from a disgruntled player. I personally witnessed Ms. Mullins’ tirade on multiple occasions. Each season before conference play began, Ms. Mullins’ emotions were kept mostly under control. But once in conference, she obviously could not handle the stress she would feel and took it out on her players; blaming anyone but herself for the team’s under performance. Fortunately, for the remaining players, Ms. Mullins is no longer the head volleyball coach at Campbell University. On the one hand, I am grateful she gave my daughter the opportunity to play at the Division I level. On the other hand, it was one of the worst experiences in life for both my daughter and for me. In closing I hope Ms. Mullins reads the posts here and learns from them. On second thought, I am hopeful Ms. Mullins is never in a position to treat another young woman the way she treated so many during the past 5 years." - 11/21/2012

"Just so you know she was let go and is no longer at Campbell. Still please beware. You do not want to be coached by this woman or have your child coached by this woman in any capacity. She is the definition of a true narcissist. Her idea of coaching is to blame everyone else for losses, embarrass players in public, gossip, gossip, gossip and throw people under the bus. I would love to know what the other coaches in the conference think of her. Well I am glad she is gone and I wish her the best, but I hope she gets some much needed help." - 11/19/2012

"As you can see, she received an F for every category. She knows NOTHING about the sport of volleyball, not surprising, considering she played 2 years at a D2 school and that was the extent of her volleyball career. Her recruiting methods include: word of mouth. She offers girls full rides without ever having seen them play and then when they get to school and aren't any good, she kicks them off the team. She has kicked a total of 8 people off the team, just on a whim. If she decideds she doesn't like you, you're gone. She has no idea how to talk to people, how to coach, or even how to communicate a thought. The years I spent playing for this woman were the worst years of my life. I can't even begin to describe the emotional damage she has caused every single one of her players. If you ask ANYONE who has played for her, and I mean anyone, they will all say that she is a terrible coach and should not be allowed to coach volleyball. She is a bully not only to the players, but to other coaches and colleagues. She spends all of the teams money buying things for herself including starbucks, ipads, personal apparel, under armor equiptment, and an unlimited food budget for herself but not for her team. Her 5 year contract is over at the end of this season, and I would put my 1 billion dollars on her contract not getting renewed." - 9/25/2012

"I played for her for my college career. Great coach. She did not put up with kids with bad attitudes. I respect the fact she would get rid of players that brought the team down. I would definitely play for her again and again." - 8/10/2012

"One of the WORST coaches I have ever had! I have been playing volleyball for 11 years and in all my experiences I have never had such an awful time as under her "reign". It is a constant battle with this woman, who has more interest in trying to re-live her glory days than actually coach. I could fill up this entire paper with some of the absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional things she has done to people and players. The only chance of doing well on this team is if you want to be a kiss ass and a gossiper with her. Egotistical, bi-polar, back stabbing, unknowledgable, doesnt take responsibility, dishonest...are just a few words I could use to describe. Save yourself a lot of time and heartache and do not play for this woman." - 10/13/2011

"I dont need this job, youve seen my house youve seen my car... - after losing a very close game referring to how much money her husband makes." - 10/13/2011

"If you want to be a 'girlfriend' to your coach, then this is the best person to play for..very egotistic. But don't ever get on her bad side or she'll play the 'mean girl' role on ya. Her practice sessions are mostly run..run..and run. Her drills are same'o same'o..nothing exciting and nothing to do with improving volleyball skills. Campbell U. isn't for everyone but if you love alcohol, then this is the place to be. She has the whole athletic department under her finger tips and love to play the victim when things go wrong. Her side kick 'Legget' are a pea in a pod..he picks out her undies when the team go shopping at the malls..true story..saw itmyself..boo!" - 2/24/2011
